CE360 Founding Member responsible for alliance business development, networks and partnerships. Circular Economy Professional focussed on developing innovative practical economic solutions.
Joanna has been interested in the role of capital to support economic development since the beginning of her career. As a CFA charterholder, with 10yrs in the investment industry predominantly focused on developing countries, Joanna has seen the impact of short-term investor demands on corporate decision-making. And with investor time horizons dwindling, corporate thinking has become ever more short-term.
Companies are stuck between a rock and a hard place- investors want returns and fast, customers want ethical practices but they’re not willing to pay more for them. Since 2014, Joanna has been navigating this space. It takes collaboration across the ecosystem from policy-makers to smallholder farmers, from academia to multinationals to informal waste-pickers, from investors to donors and everything in between. Starting in the tea sector in Tanzania and most recently working in waste management in Ghana, Joanna is focused on finding practical solutions that align interests (and time horizons) of different participants in each sector. The goal remains the same- inclusive economic development that leaves no one behind.
Joanna is the Ghana chapter lead for the African Circular Economy Network and a B Leader.
